National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature held “Open day” May 20, 2015 | 15:23 / Interesting information

As in each year, ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature held “Open day” on the occasion of 18 May - International Museum Day. The goal is to enable people free of charge opportunity to the museum’s exhibitions and exposures. Today, museum has been visited by many secondary school students, high school students, a variety of teachers, as well as ordinary citizens. They were informed on the outstanding representatives of Azerbaijani literature, the exhibits at the museum and important literary facts.

Note that the International Museum Day, which was founded at the initiative of the International Council of Museums, is celebrated since 1977 under the slogan “contributing to the development of cooperation and cultural exchange between the two nations”.

Museums have vital mission as protecting material and spiritual heritage of the separate nations for centuries and deliver it from past to the future.

Many famous museums storing ancient exhibits, private collections and rare items function around the world. Here include: Washington National Art Gallery, Metropolitan Museum in New York, Venice Academy Gallery, Dresden Gallery, Moscow Tretyakov Gallery, and State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg etc.

Today exhibits which are being kept in more than 200 museums operating in the country reflecting national-moral values, promotes Azerbaijanism ideology successfully.
