On June 6, a regular meeting of the Bureau of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS (DHS) took place.

The event was attended by members of the department, heads of scientific institutions and candidates of DHS for the academic title of "Professor of ANAS".

Academician-Secretary of the department, Academician Teymur Karimli, opening the meeting with an opening address, acquainted the participants with the questions on the agenda.

One of the scientific and organizational issues discussed in the first place was the course of the "Professor of ANAS" competition announced by the decree of the Presidium of ANAS dated April 19, 2017. It was noted that the candidacy of four scientists was nominated for the humanities. 2 of them are employees of the Institute of Literature, 1 - Institute of Linguistics, 1 - Azerbaijan University of Languages.

Then the scientists who put forward their candidacies informed the members of the department in detail about their activities and the successes achieved.

Academician Teymur Karimli brought to the attention that the academic title "Professor of ANAS" is awarded to doctors of science under the age of 50 years who are not members of ANAS, engaged in scientific or scientific and pedagogical activity in scientific institutions and higher schools, having scientific achievements of national and international level, Special merits in the training of highly specialized scientific personnel, strengthening of the unity of science and education, protection and development of statehood, as well as in the implementation of the basic tasks and functions of ANAS. Academician-Secretary of the department noted that the academic title will give an impetus to scientific activity of scientists and wished them success.

The next issue on the agenda was connected with the establishment of an Expert Commission consisting of members of the DHS in accordance with the Regulations on the Academic Rank "Professor of ANAS" approved by the decree of the Presidium of ANAS on February 22, 2017. By decision of the department, academician Teymur Karimli was appointed chairman of the commission.

At the event, it was decided to initiate a petition to the Presidium of ANAS in connection with the appointment of Doctor of Philology, Professor Alizade Askarli to the post of Deputy Director for scientific work of the Institute of Literature.

In conclusion, the current issues were considered. It was discussed the execution of orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On holding the 120th anniversary of Bulbul" and "On the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic", the heads of scientific institutions were given assignments in connection with the jubilees. It was also decided to initiate a petition before the Presidium of ANAS in connection with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of corresponding member of ANAS Firangiz Alizadeh.
