ANAS Institute of Literature after Nizami Ganjavi held International Scientific Conference "Nasimi 600" devoted to 600th anniversary of outstanding Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nasimi’s death the was held.

The scientific community of Azerbaijan and guests from Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Iran and India took part in the conference.

At the event, ANAS Vice-President, Director of the Institute, Academician Isa Habibbayli, recalled that during the USSR the first high rating of Nasimi was given by the national leader Heydar Aliyev, and in 1969 the poet's 600th anniversary was solemnly celebrated.

Noting that, today Nasimi's work is given great importance, Academician brought to the attention that, 600th anniversary of great poet Imadeddin Nasimi’s death is celebrated by the UNESCO at the world scale level.

I.Habibbeyli noted that, Nasimi created impeccable samples of poetry in his native language and gave impetus to the formation of subsequent eras. Academician stressed that, the research devoted to the life and work of the poet in Europe, Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria and India is an indicator of his glory on a global scale.

At the event, Academician, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences of ANAS Teymur Kerimli spoke about the rich heritage of Nasimi and his role in world literature and philosophical thought. Academician said that, in the work of Nasimi a wide space was devoted to moral freedom, universal values, love for man and freedom.

Then, the dean of the faculty of Theology of BSU, Academician Vasim Mammadaliyev said that, the conference will create an opportunity to study Nasimi's work in a new aspect. He noted that, for the understanding of Nasimi, it is necessary to know perfectly the Islamic religion, khurifizm, picture and language of the era. Having brought to the attention that Khurufism placed man above all else, the academician said that it was precisely because of these ideas that Nasimi was persecuted and executed.

Director of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature after Nizami Ganjavi, Academician Rafael Huseynov noted that, Nasimi was the bearer of revolutionary ideas, as a result of which he was blessed by religious figures and political circles of his time. It was said that, Nasimi, whose foundation of creativity was the idea "God is beautiful and loves the beautiful," was able to more easily expound the most complex philosophical ideas.

R.Huseynov noted that, because of the war in Syria Nasimi's grave is under threat and therefore the issue of its delivery to Azerbaijan was raised at the Spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Then academician Nizami Jafarov in his speech noted that Azerbaijani scientists learned about Nasimi in the 20th century and began to conduct extensive research in this direction. The academician spoke about the meaning of the translation into Russian and English and the propagation of the poet's works on a world scale.

At the ceremony, Academician of the Georgia National Academy of Sciences Elizbar Javelidze, Ph.D. in Philology Abuser Bagirov, Professor of the Delhi University of India Ahmed Ansari and others spoke about Nasimi's work.

At the conference, the report was presented by the head of the Department of the Institute of Literature, Ph.D. in Philology Farida Azizova.

The event continued its work in the plenary sessions of the sections.
