Recently, the materials published in mass media about the discovery of the remains of poet Mikayil Mushfig, a prominent Azerbaijani poet, victims of the Stalin repression and shot dead in 1938, attracted the attention of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

The head of state instructed the establishment of a working group consisting of representatives of the ANAS, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture and other related bodies to investigate the issue.

According to the assignment, the probable remnants of Mikayil Mushfig will run a DNA test accordingly. All the necessary measures will be taken to re-bury the poet if the remnants really belong to him.
