ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature after Nizami Ganjavi held the event, by the participation of the museum staff and leading representatives of the scientific community of the republic. Event was devoted to a broad discussion of the recently published monograph by academician Ramiz Mehdiyev “The Gregorian Church as a tool of espionage against the Safavid state (XVII - the first part of the XVIII century)".

Director of the museum, academician Rafael Huseynov opened the session and spoak on the research conducted by academician Ramiz Mehdiyev, related to Shah Ismail Khatai and the Safavid state, and its significance in the scientific life of country.

The book is extremely important as the fact of thorough research and coverage of the intelligence and political-ideological activities of the Gregorian Church against the Safavid state (XVII - the first part of the XVIII century) for the first time in Azerbaijani historical science.

The monograph, contains 4 chapters, expresses a reasonable critical attitude to the fiction of Armenians that “Safavid shahs lived in constant fear of Armenians”, explores the espionage activities of Armenians, loyal to the “old trade” - espionage, in the territory of the Safavid Empire in favor of Western states, noted on the struggle of Safavid governor against the emissaries of the Vatican and their Armenian accomplices

He noted that, by this work, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev once again proves that a qualitatively new approach is required to all questions and stages of the history of Azerbaijan. Academician R.Mekhtiyev, who writes that “The community without memory, without awareness of the past is deprived of both the future and the present,” reveals, in its new monograph, such layers of historical memory about which our science has so far owned superficial information.

Director of the museum said that, Armenia violated the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, harmful nuclear waste was buried in the occupied territories, and trainings on terrorist acts are being held. The academician called on the international community to solidarity in the fight against radical Armenian nationalism.
