ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature after Nizami Ganjavi held a scientific session dedicated to Jalil Mammadgulizade’s life and activity. Also, as part of the event was organized an exhibition.

Director of the museum, academician Rafael Huseynov opened the session, noted that the order of AR President Ilham Aliyev “On the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Jalil Mammadgulizade” is an indicator of attention to the history and literature of our country. The scientist noted that, the Gori Teachers' Seminary played an important role in shaping the worldview of Mirza Jalil and gave him the opportunity to create a great heritage in the future.

R.Huseynov added that, the writer in his works has reflected the shortcomings of society that impede its development. He said that, manifestations of problems such as ignorance and superstition in the 1909 drama “Ölülər”, written by Mirza Jalil, you also can even see in modern society.

Speaking about the historical mission of D. Mammadgulizade, academician noted that, it manifested itself not only in his works, but also in the creation of “Molla Nasraddin” journal, the first issue was published on April 7, 1906. He said that, the words in the program article of the journal were soon reflected, the publication spread to the Caucasus, the Ottoman Empire, Central Asia, China, India and gathered around people with democratic thinking.
