The first meeting of the Scientific Council on Classical Literary Heritage and Folklore Studies was held at the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS.

The meeting was opened by the chairman of the council, academician Rafael Huseynov, who informed about the issues on the agenda.

He noted that in recent years significant progress has been made in the field of the humanities. The Chairman of the Council emphasized the importance of conducting research in priority areas of the humanities, expanding the range of topics and bringing new research to meet the requirements of modern world science.

Rafael Huseynov noted that the activities of the council are regulated by the new Regulation on scientific councils in scientific areas.

Another issue on the agenda was the discussion and approval of research topics of doctoral students and dissertators.

Of the topics presented to the council, the research topic of PhD student of the Institute of Manuscripts Rubaba Shirinova on the preparation of a doctor of science “Paleographic features and comparative study of religious and philosophical manuscripts of the 17th and 19th centuries” was approved under the name “Paleographic features and comparative study of Arabic-speaking religious and philosophical manuscripts of the 17th and XIX centuries.”

The second work on the preparation of a doctor of sciences by the dissertation candidate of the Ganja Division Alamzar Tagiyeva entitled “The Life and Activities of Nizami Ganjavi as an Object of Research in Russian Scientific and Theoretical Thought” was not approved as the problem designated as the subject of research is not significant enough for a doctoral degree.

The topics of the doctoral candidate at the Institute of Manuscripts for the preparation of PhD Novruz Bakirova on "Comparative textual study of handwritten copies of the works of Molla Juma", doctoral student at the Institute of Folklore Ulker Yusifova "Typology of the image of dervishes in Azerbaijani folklore" were approved without modification.

The theme of the dissertator of the Institute of Manuscripts Samira Guliyeva "Characteristics of the feuilleton genre in Azerbaijani literature (based on materials from the periodical press of the early 20th century)" was specified and approved under the title "Classification and characteristic features of feuilleton published in the Azerbaijani press of the beginning of the 20th century."

The themes of the doctoral student of Baku State University, Aynura Gurban on "The role of written literature in the formation of love epics (based on the epics" Leyli and Majnun","Farhad and Shirin ") and the dissertation of the Institute of Manuscripts Leyla Guliyeva "Studying the Nizami Heritage in Modern English Literature" were approved given the introduction of some changes to the plan-prospectuses of topics.
