National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS, which will celebrate its 80th anniversary this year, presented the next stage of the project “With you at the Nizami museum”, which has been going on for two months.

This presentation is dedicated to May 18 - International Museum Day

As you know, since 1977, May 18 is celebrated worldwide as the international museum day. On the International Museum Day, museums and nature reserves in several countries around the world, including Azerbaijan, organize open door days. On this day, local and foreign visitors can visit museums without entrance fees.

However, due to the fact that on May 18 this year coincided with the quarantine period due to the spread of coronavirus infection, like other museums, National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS was deprived of the opportunity to traditionally hold an “Open Day”. Museum staff were the first to implement the virtual open door project.

Thus, in the video shown on May 18 in a number of social networks, on the museum’s official website and on the youtube channel, the director of the institution, academician Rafael Huseynov, spoke about the importance of museums in people's lives, the role of such centers of art in studying the history, literature and culture of peoples. The scientist noted that the museum is a memory, history and morality. It is important for each nation to know its own history and rich spiritual heritage so that it can confidently move forward. Huseynov emphasized that the Nizami museum keeps a memory of the history of culture and literature of the Azerbaijani people, which has more than 3,000 years.

“Only those who love their profession and understand the moral responsibility of this work can work in the museum. This love is also reflected in the professional holiday, because museum employees have to work harder than ever before on professional holidays. That is why the museum this year, despite the quarantine regime, continues the tradition of open doors virtually,”said academician R. Huseynov.

Then he congratulated the staff of all museums in the country and museum lovers and announced a video tour.

During the video tour, museum guides provided information on the life and work of prominent literary figures from the exhibition halls. Museum guides also conveyed their congratulations in Azerbaijani, English, Russian, Arabic and Persian.

Three branches of the museum - Aran Regional Branch named after Khagani Shirvani, Karabakh Branch named after Khurshidbanu Natavan, Russian-Azerbaijani Center for literary relations named after Sergey Yesenin - connected to the virtual open door.

Summing up the virtual open day at the museum, academician R. Huseynov said that museums are intended for people around the world. For this reason, the festival of museums should be considered a holiday not only of museum employees, but of everyone. On behalf of all museum staff, the director expressed the wish that our people, who are the heir and owner of such a great heritage as Azerbaijani literature and culture, often visit museums, instill this habit for future generations and contribute to the enrichment of museums in the country.

The virtual open day ended with the song “Word temple” dedicated to the Nizami museum performed by soloist Gulshan Ibadova-akin and the choir. Note that the author of the lyrics is Rafael Huseynov, and the composer is Rizvan Sadirkhanov.
