In 1939, a decision was made to establish the "House of Nizami" in Baku for 1941, the 800th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi. Despite the completion of the planned work in 1940, the opening of the museum took place a few days after the victory - May 14, 1945, due to the outbreak of World War II.
