Azerbaijan National Academy of Science and by the support the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan will held the International Mugam Symposium on "Mugam Traditions at the intersection of science and art" on March 7-10, 2018.

The following sections are planned for the symposium:

- National interpretation of the eastern system of mugams-frets;

- Aesthetic and narrative semantics of mugam texts;

- Language and rhythmic features of texts of vocal-instrumental mugams;

- Conceptual significance of the Azerbaijani mugam (Destgakh);

- The sources of strong psychological influence of mugam performance and music therapy;

- The tradition of mugam (maqam) as a point of contact of a multicultural world;

- Scientific foundations of artistry and the artistic foundations of science in mugam creativity;

- The development of mugam art - history and modernity.

The opening ceremony of the symposium will be held in the main building of ANAS.
