Opening ceremony of the tombstone complex of the famous scientist, the founder of the research laboratory "Environmental Chemistry and Environmental Protection" of the Baku State University (BSU), Honored Scientist, Laureate of the Shohrat Order, academician Rafiga Aliyeva was held on May 5 in the Alley of Honor.

The event was attended by members of the deceased family, state and government officials, deputies and members of the public.

Before the grave of Academician Rafiga Aliyeva, a wreath was laid on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

The memory of Rafiga Aliyeva was honored by the participants of the event with a minute of silence.

Opening the ceremony, rector of BSU, academician Abel Maharramov told about the pedagogical merits of Rafigi Aliyeva, who devoted most of her life to the training of qualified personnel in BSU, noted that she was an excellent teacher. Abel Maharramov brought to the attention that Rafiga Aliyeva, who had exceptional merits in the training of several generations of chemists in our country, was a favorite teacher of students, she treated future chemists with maternal care.

The speaker noted that, Rafiga Aliyeva played an important role in carrying out numerous scientific researches at the university, the creation and management of the chemical laboratory "Environmental Chemistry and Environmental Protection", and the fruitful scientific and pedagogical activity gained great prestige among the public. Rector Abel Maharramov stressed that the scientific legacy of Rafiga Aliyeva, the first woman academician in the field of analytical chemistry, formed her scientific school with such qualities as courage, courage, will, memory, her memory is immortalized, her name is inscribed in gold letters in the history of science, education, enlightenment.

Then, Hijran Huseynova, chairman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Issues, shared the memories about academician Rafiga Aliyeva, the head of the Secretariat of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - the assistant to the President Dilyara Seidzadeh, the deputies of the Milli Majlis Elmira Akhundova and Rafael Huseynov, the chairman of the National Center for Nuclear Research, academician Adil Garibov, Honored Architect Rasim Aliyev, sculptor, People's Artist Natig Aliyev.

Speakers on behalf of the family, her daughter - Honored Art Worker Fahriya Khalafova and Head of the Chair of Ecological Chemistry BSU, Professor Sevinj Hajiyeva expressed gratitude to the participants of the event.

The complex of the grave monument of academician Rafiga Aliyeva reflects the synthesis of eastern architecture and the famous Baroque art.
