The outstanding literary critic, writer, publisher, poet and translator, academician-secretary of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences of the ANAS, director of the Institute of Manuscripts after Mahammad Fuzuli, academician Karimli Teymur Hashim oglu is 65 on October 2.

Karimli Teymur Hashim oglu was born on October 2, 1953 in the Nurgud village of the Ordubad region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. In 1970 he graduated from high school with a gold medal, and in 1975 the Faculty of Philology of the current Baku State University. From this year he began to work as a teacher in a secondary school in the Kalbajar district. T.Karimli continued his education at the Institute of Literature after Nizami ANAS in 1977-1980.

In 1990-2000 he worked as editor-in-chief of the publishing house Elm of ANAS, a member of the editorial board of a number of scientific journals and collections, a scientific editor of numerous monographs, a responsible editor of a number of volumes of the six volumes of the History of Azerbaijan Literature, as well as Latin editions of “Molla Nasreddin” and “Fuzuyat”.

Teimur Karimli worked for more than thirty years at the Institute of Literature. For many years he headed the Department of Medieval Azerbaijani Literature of the Institute. In 2002-2003 He was Deputy Director of the Institute of Literature, as well as Acting Director in 2012-2013. In 2014, he was elected Director of the Institute of Manuscripts, as well as Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanities of ANAS.

In 1983 he defended his Ph.D on "Romantic perception of history in Nizami" (according to the poem "Seven Beauties") in 2004 he defended his doctoral thesis "Historical personality and historical event in Nizami's work as a context and helper of an ideological and aesthetic goal". In 2007 he became a corresponding member of ANAS and in 2014 he was elected as active member.

T.Kerimli is the author of the books “Nizami and History”, “Akif Alizadeh: Harmony of Energy with Talent”, “Akademik Ahmad Makhmudov” “To the World from the Gates of the East”, as well as the textbook “Literature” for X grades and over a hundred scientific articles. Academician is also a talented researcher and promoter of our classical literature. Studying outstanding masters of the word, such as Nizami, Khagani, Nasimi, Fizuli, Khatai, M.P.Vagif, S.A.Shirvani, M.A.Sabir, M.Shakhriyar, H.Javid he is an author of a number of interesting poems.

He delivered papers at several international scientific conferences and symposia in Russia, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Syria, Hungary, Italy, India, France and the CIS countries. Under his leadership, 21 PhDs and 5 Doctors of Science were trained.

In 2010, he became the laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the research "Heydar Aliyev and Classical Literature". In addition, he was awarded the honorary diploma of the Presidium of ANAS, as well as the Griboedov Medal of the Writers' Union of Russia of the Moscow City Organization for its effective activity.
