Presentation of a collection of books on the history, ethnography and folklore of Gabala + Photo Jan 10, 2020 | 17:06 / New publications

On January 10, in the main building of ANAS, a presentation of the collection of books “The History of Gabala”, “Ethnography of Gabala” and “Folklore of Gabala” took place.

Opening the event, first vice-president of ANAS academician Isa Habibbayli, spoke about the important results of studies conducted in recent years by employees of scientific institutions of Azerbaijan, including the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography. He said that the collection presented to the public was the result of studies conducted by the Gabala ethnographic expedition of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography in the Gabala region.

Academician Isa Habibbayli emphasized the importance of studying this ancient region for the history of our statehood. According to him, the policies of the national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev, aimed at the economic and political growth of our republic, served as the basis for scientific research and the recognition of our scientists at the world level.

Further, academician Teymur Bunyadov informed about books that are the result of complex archaeological, historical and ethnographic studies of the Gabala region and the ancient city of Gabala. T. Bunyadov especially noted the support of the Azerbaijan-Korean Association of Cultural Exchange SEBA (Seoul-Baku) and its president, PhD in Geology Ruhangiz Heydarova, in the study of the Gabala region.

The director of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, Professor Maisa Rahimova spoke about the studies carried out in Gabala by the staff of her scientific institution. She emphasized the importance of these studies, which revealed the historical past of Azerbaijan, the ancient history of our people, its rich material and spiritual heritage.

Speaking at the event, the Korean Ambassador to our country, Kim Tung Op, said that with the support of the SEBA Association, the participation of Korean experts in archaeological research in Gabala opened a new page in the history of cooperation between the two countries.

Academician Rafael Huseynov, director of the  National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS, noted the important scientific, cultural and political importance of publishing works reflecting the history, ethnography and folklore of the 2500-year-old history of Gabala in Russian and English.

In conclusion, the documentary “Gabala Etudes” about the Gabala Ethnographic Expedition was shown.
