On May 9, on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the birth of great leader Heydar Aliyev, a video conference was held under the name “Continuous Great Road” with the participation of employees of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi of ANAS.

Opening the event, museum director academician Rafael Huseynov noted that the tradition of honoring the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev with sessions and conferences continues online these days.

Speaking about the place of May 9 - Victory Day over fascism in our heroic history, academician R. Huseynov spoke about the special sympathy of the great leader Heydar Aliyev for this victory day. He noted that all his life and the multifaceted activities of an outstanding statesman can be called a series of victories. The great leader has done invaluable work to raise our country, turn the Azerbaijani people into a strong nation that is moving forward in history, and also to establish the name of Azerbaijan in the world.

The director of the museum said in 1993, at a time when the fate of Azerbaijan was tested under the influence of internal and external forces and there was a threat of loss of independence, at the insistence of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev returned to power and raised the flag of independence of Azerbaijan.

According to R. Huseynov, most of the work done by the great leader for our people relates to the period after the independence of Azerbaijan. The scientist called the period of political activity and struggle of the national leader after 1993, when the country gained independence and laid the foundation of statehood, a new page in the history of Azerbaijan: “Heydar Aliyev has exceptional merit in continuing Azerbaijan’s path to independence. His work on creating a modern Azerbaijani state will always be gratefully recalled by our people.”
