A meeting was held in the Electronic Assembly Hall of the Institute of Literature of ANAS to ensure the implementation of the issues made by President Ilham Aliyev in his speech, concerning the decisions of Azerbaijan People Republic (APR) in the early XX century and the artificial renaming of places of Azerbaijani origin by Armenians.

The event was attended by the First Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, academician Isa Habibbayli, as well as heads of Institutes of History, Linguistics, Caucasus Studies, Archeology and Ethnography, Architecture and Art, Law and Human Rights, Geography, Soil Science and Agrochemistry.

Speaking at the meeting on "Socio-political situation in Azerbaijan in the early XX century, the reflection of issues related to Western Azerbaijan in science and the upcoming issues", academician Isa Habibbayli said that a number of measures were taken at ANAS by the challenges of President. He noted that it is planned to conduct substantial and systematic research relying on transcripts of the APR parliament, the archives of Tsarist Russia, the Ottoman Empire, Iran and Europe, in the direction of history, archeology, toponyms, demography, map, geopolitical situation, architectural monuments, literature, legal aspects, of Western Azerbaijan, Irevan and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Academician Isa Habibbayli said the research will be carried out in four directions, covering the period up to Irevan city, beylerbeylik, khanate, province, Armenian province and the Armenian state the research work will be prepared and reflected in a book. He also stressed that the details of Irevan's concessions to Armenia will be objectively studied from geopolitical aspects based on historical documents.

The first vice-president of ANAS said that the toponyms of Western Azerbaijan, Irevan, Nagorno-Karabakh were systematically and purposefully Armenianized, the local population was forcibly deported and Armenians were resettled in these territories, and called on linguists, historians and geographers to be more active in publicizing these issues.

The results of the research will be reflected in three books, which will be translated into Russian and English and promoted internationally, he noted.

Academicians Yagub Mahmudov, Mohsun Naghisoylu, Ramiz Mammadov, corresponding members of ANAS Musa Gasimli, Artegin Salamzadeh, Alovsat Guliyev, Professors Sayali Sadigova, Lala Ahmadova and Doctor of Historical sciences Najaf Museyibli also spoke at the meeting.

Speaking at the end, academician I.Habibbeyli said that the proposals will be summarized and submitted to the President of ANAS, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev and a unified work plan will be defined.
