5th International Mugam Festival on "World of Mugam" to be held Mar 01, 2018 | 17:11

Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Union of Composers, National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan National Conservatory will held 5th International Festival on "World of Mugham" on 7-14 March, in Baku.

Within the framework of the festival in Baku and Ganja by participation of Azerbaijani and foreign musicians will be organized concert programs, international scientific symposium and mugam competition.

Musicians and jury members from Turkey, Moldova, Poland, Iran, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Morocco and other countries are invited to participate in the event.

On March 7-10, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences will hold an International Symposium on the theme "Mugham ənənəsi elm və incəsənət qovşağında" ("Mugam Traditions at the Crossroads of Science and Art"). The symposium will be attended by guests from France, Canada, Holland, Turkey, Iran, Hungary, Uzbekistan and Serbia.

On March 10-13, the International Mugam Competition will be held at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory. The jury will include well-known representatives of the music culture of Azerbaijan, Poland, Turkey, Iran and Tajikistan. The contest will be held in two sections- instrumental and vocal. Conservatory will also present concert programs with the participation of Qarabağ mugam group, instrumental ensemble "Qaytağı", famous musicians and hanende - Mansum Ibragimov, Anver Sadigov, Elchin Hashimov, Elnur Ahmedov, Tayyar Bayrabov, Aityan Maharramova, Kamranp Kerimov, Idris Huseynov and Kamran Novruzov.

Famous musicians and khanende will perform at the concert at the International Mugham Center - Elnur Zeynalov, Gochag Askerov, Arzu Aliyeva, Babek Niftaliyev, Nisbat Sadraeva, Memed Nadzhafov, Abgul Mirzaliev and others will present the mugams "Rast", "Shur", "Segah", " Chahargyakh, Bayati Shiraz, Shushter, Humayun.

During the festival there will be performances by the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra named after Uzeir Hajibeyli, State Orchestra of Folk Instruments, the State Chamber Orchestra named after Gar Garayev, the State Dance Ensemble, the State Choir Chapel, the State Song and Dance Ensemble, ethno-jazz of the band "Cəngi".

On the stage of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, the opera "Koroglu" by Uzeyir Hajibayli, the ballet "The Seven Beauties" by Gara Garayeva, "Shah Ismail" opera by Muslim Magomayev, musical comedy "Not That, This One" in the Baku puppet theater - the production of "Leyli and Majnun" based on the same name by Uzeir Hajibeyli.

A series of concert programs will be held in Ganja on March 8-13 with the participation of the Gianja State Philharmonic Society after Fikret Amirov.

Solemn closing of the festival will be held on March 14 in the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev in Baku. The Azerbaijani State Folk Instruments Orchestra under the direction of the People's Artist Agaverdi Pashayev, Azerbaijan State Song and Dance Ensemble named after Fikret Amirov and the winners of the International Mugham Competition will perform at the evening.
