“Khojaly - the shame of history” event held Feb 26, 2016 | 12:11 / Important events

On February 25, ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi held the event on “Khojaly – the shame of history” devoted to 24th anniversary of Khojaly tragedy.

In advance, memory of tragedy victims was cherished for a minute of silence.

Director of the museum, Academician Rafael Huseynov told about emerging causes and bitter sequences of the tragedy. Noted that, former USSR's 366th regiment of the genocide committed by Armenian aggressors, with the support of the unprecedented act of barbarism, not only to our people, as a crime against humanity in the history of the twentieth century. Massacre of hundreds of unarmed people - old, young, children, women unprecedented civilians were killed, houses burnt down, and the city was ruined.

Commemorative events in connection with anniversary of Khojaly tragedy are conducted by different countries of the world each year. The main aim is to inform world public on the abuse, which Azerbaijan people have been suffering over the years and exposure Armenians’ lies, stated Academician R. Huseynov.

In closing, appeal of the Karabakh affiliate of the museum named after Kh. Natavan to the world museums has been voiced. Appeal conducted the challenge for putting end the occupation of Armenia against Azerbaijan, liberation of the occupied territories, return of refugees and internally displaced people to their homelands.

Within the event were demonstrated the stands reflecting Khojaly horrors.
