National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature of ANAS named after the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi is going to celebrate its 75th anniversary.

This sacred palace of the word which is considered as the only museum of literature in the world assumed honorable mission of the propagandist of ancient culture and a rich heritage of the Azerbaijani people.

History of the building drawing attention with the graceful architectural style goes back to the middle of the XIX century. For general public the museum was opened on May 14, 1945. On December 30, 2014 after visit to the museum of the President of Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev, works on repair and reconstruction were begun.

Opening of the museum by the President coincided with date of foundation of this institution - on March 14, 2009.

Since 2003, museum led by active member of ANAS Rafael Baba oglu Huseynov.

The exposition of the museum reflects information on the historical way of domestic literature, since ancient times till the modern period.

Here are displayed outstanding literary manuscripts, writing samples prominent calligraphers, miniatures, painted on the classics, works of Azerbaijani writers, documentary photographs, examples of folk art, a collection of coins belonging to different periods, ancient carpets, pottery and bronze ware and many other artifacts.

In the updated exposition of the museum visitors can study rich audio-videos materials – fragments of various movies, fragments of the dramatized works, works of prominent Azerbaijani composers, poetry samples performed by famous actors.

National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature has received the status of “national” from 2005 due to the care and attention of Mr.President has turned into a scientific and cultural center of the republic.

The museum plays an important role in the comprehensive study and promote history of domestic literature, the collection and storage of samples of national literature, to familiarize the audience with the place, role and importance of national literary and artistic heritage, as well as in the young staff training - PhD students in the field of museology.

One of the main goals of the museum is to familiarize the visitors with the rich heritage of the country ligature.

The museum also implements the important work in the field of international relations. In 2011, in Nova Gorica, (Slovenia) was established Memorial Museum named after Mehdi Huseynzadeh and “Son of the two peoples” book dedicated to Mehdi Huseynzadeh in Azerbaijani, English and Slovenian languages was published by director of museum academician Rafael Huseynov.

R. Guseynov\'s election by the member of the Oxford academic union in 2014 became significant achievement concerning promotion of domestic literature and culture at the world level, and also developments of cross-cultural communications.

By order of the President of Azerbaijan Republic in 2010, the 70th anniversary of the museum was marked at a high level, “The role of literature and culture in national self-assertion of the Azerbaijani people” international conference was held. The materials of events were published as a book, editor and author of the preface is active member of ANAS Rafael Huseynov.

Today the National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi has reached a high level and fully received a new breath. Currently, the cultural center occupies a leading position among the largest scientific and cultural institutions in the country.
