On April 7, Literature Institute of ANAS after Nizami hosted a event devoted to 300th jubilee of great Azerbaijani poet Molla Penah Vagif on “Molla Penah Vagif and Azerbaijan realism”.

At the event, Vice-President of ANAS director of the institute Academician Isa Habibbeyli stated that, event is held in accordance with the Order of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev “On holding 300th jubilee of great Azerbaijan poet Molla Penah” dated January 12, 2017. He stressed the importance of the event in terms of promoting poet’s creativity and highly appreciated including the name of Molla Penah Vagif in the “Program of jubilees of the notable personalities and remarkable events for 2016-2017”.

Vice-President of ANAS spoke of Molla Panah Vagif's poetry world, the unique creative style, diplomatic experience and influence to the political processes in the region, his fair and decisive position in palace affairs. Vagif is a poet of high bliss, subtle feelings, deep and optimistic senses. Love lyrics, earthy beauty are mainstreamed in his poetry, he added.

Molla Penah Vagif has impacted the development of literature: “Molla Penah Vagif is a founder of early new era of Azerbaijan realist literature. He is the distinguished representative of Azerbaijan literature covering the period - after Muhammad Fuzuli before Mirze Fatali Akhundzadeh.

It was brought to mind that on January 14, 1982, at the initiative of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, poet’s tomb was erected on his grave in the cultural center Shusha. Unfortunately, on May 8, 1992, the Armenian armed forces occupied Shusha, all the material and cultural monuments, including the tomb and mausoleum Vagif mercilessly destroyed.

Chief Department of Early new era Azerbaijan literature, Dr. Philology Mahira Guliyeva delivered a lecture “Vagif‘s creativity in the intersection of ashug literature and classical poetry”, chief department of XX century (Soviet era) Azerbaijan literature Dr. Philology Prof. Shirindil Alishanli on “Molla Penah Vagif and Samad Vurghun”, scientific-secretary of the institute PhD in Philology Assoc. Prof. Aygun Baghirli on “Artistic image of Molla Penah Vagif in Azerbaijan literature” etc.

In closing, footages from event, devoted to the 250th jubilee of Molla Penah Vagif in 1967, were displayed.
