Aran regional branch of the National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi jointly with the Central Library of Kurdamir held an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Head of the Aran Regional Branch of the museum, PhD in Philology Yagut Bahadurgizi informed on the historical significance of the first democratic, parliamentary republic - the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, created on May 28, 1918 in the Muslim East and having a unique role in the history of our people's statehood. He said that the Republic, which has lived for only 23 months, has left an indelible imprint on the history of national statehood with its rich state-building experience and has created a solid foundation for the future independence of our country by strengthening the freedom and independence of the people.

President Ilham Aliyev has proclaimed 2018 as "Year of the People's Republic of Azerbaijan", Y.Bahadurghizi noted.

Later employee of Kurdamir Region Central Library Mahina Shiraliyeva and historian-researcher Aga Zeynalov delivered speeches on the importance of studying and revising documents on the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and its conveyance to future generations.

The event was continued with an artistic part. In the art section, a video featuring the history of the Republic was demonstrated, and pupils made poems about the Motherland, flag, freedom and independence.
