ANAS marked the 80th anniversary of the famous scientist-literary critic Gazanfar Pashayev Sep 19, 2017 | 09:04 / Jubilees

ANAS Central Scientific Library by support of ANAS Institute of Literature Nizami Ganjavi held event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of a prominent scientist and literary critic, Professor Gazanfar Pashayev.

Vice-President of ANAS, Director of the Institute of Literature, Academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the scientific and artistic activities of the prominent scientist and his contributions to the Azerbaijani science. It was noted that, product of "6 years on the coast of Dajla-Farat", written in an artistic-journalistic and scientific-memoir style, is the peak of the work of a prominent representative of the national philological thought of Gazanfar Pashayev.

Informing about the researches of the scientist, conducted in Iraq, Turkey and Iran, Academician I.Habibbeyli emphasized that, Gazanfar Pashayev became famous in these countries as a linguist, literary critic, and folklorist, who laid the foundation for Kirkuk study with his rich scientific work.

Then, head of the Department of the Institute, Professor Shirindil Alishanov made a report on the work of Gazanfar Pashayev, who has great merits in the literature of Azerbaijan. Declaring that, scientist is treated with great respect in the Turkic world, Sh. Alysanov spoke about his civic qualities.

Then, chairman of the Republican Council of Elders, MP Fattah Heydarov, spoke about the rich work of G. Pashayev and handed him the "Honor Certificate" of the Republican Council of Elders.

At the event Academicians Teymur Bunyadov, Nizami Jafarov, corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov, Professor Buludkhan Khalilov, Kirkuk guests Mustafa Zia and Shamsaddin Kuzey, Secretary of the Writers' Union of Azerbaijan Rashad Majid and others spoke about the work of an outstanding scientist.

In conclusion, Gazanfar Pashayev thanked the organizers and participants of the event.
