ANAS National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature after Nizami Ganjavi hosted an event dedicated to the Day of National Revival on "The Flag Reigning with Our Age-Old Independence" on November 17.

Director of the museum, Academician Rafael Huseynov spoke about the historical significance of the National Revival Day, noted that, this day is one of the main stages of the struggle of the Azerbaijani people for freedom. It was noted that, in the late 1980s the people's movement for independence began in Azerbaijan. As in all corners of the former USSR, our people rose to fight for independence.

Noting that, the Day of National Revival played an important role in the life of our people, R.Huseynov said today there passes thirty years of restoration of the independence of Azerbaijan. He brought to attention that only in October 1991, after the adoption of the Constitutional Act on State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, independence was restored again.

R.Huseynov stressed that, this historic path, based on the spiritual foundations of national self-consciousness, which dates back to the 60s of the XX century, subsequently became politically far-sighted and wise by the great leader Heydar Aliyev irreversible.

Noting that, today Azerbaijan has become the leading state in the region, Director of the Museum has brought to the attention that, the flag of our independent country flies proudly in authoritative international organizations of the world.

Then, poems, musical performances and dances on a patriotic theme were performed by members of various general schools of Baku Children and Youth Development Center #3 and the Public Association for the Cultural Enlightenment of Children “AYTAM”.
