Every year August 1 annually celebrates the Day of Azerbaijani Alphabet and Day of Azerbaijani language by decree No 552, dated August 9, 2001, signed by national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The formation of language policy in the republic, improvement of the Azerbaijani language as a state language and the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the international arena as the indicator of national solidarity are transformed into communication tools of the world's Azerbaijanis. The great leader has taken very important steps towards the purification and enrichment of our native language, which is the main symbol of the national identity of the Azerbaijani people and has substantiated documents for the development and protection of the Azerbaijani language.
