An event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of “Gobustan” journal has been held at the Baku Book Center.

The ceremony brought togehter first vice-president of ANAS academician Isa Habibbayli, director of the National Azerbaijan Literature Museum academician Rafael Huseynov, head of department of the Institute of Architecture and Art academician Zemfira Safarova, chairman of the Azerbaijan Writers’ Union, Ambassador, People's Artist Polad Bulbuloglu, chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov and others.

Opening the event, Gunel Rzayeva, the head of the Baku Book Center, stated that, during passed 50 years, journal embraced publications of not only litrerary, cutural figures, but also publications of beginner poets, writers and translators, as well as well-known representatives of Turkish and other foreign literature.

People's writer Anar, speaking about the history and activities of the journal, said that during the early days, the publication had faced of many difficulties. The great leader Heydar Aliyev had always supported the journal's regular operation, and he recalled his 29 years of his life devoted to “Gobustan”.

Speakers from academicians Isa Habibbayli, Rafael Huseynov, Zemfira Safarova, People's Writer Elchin, People's Artist Polad Bulbuloglu, Editor-in-Chief, Honored Cultural Worker Vagif Alikhanli, chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov spoke of vital role of the journal in cultural life of Azerbaijan.

The event continued with a concert program.
