By organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Composers Union within the framework "Mugham World" of the V International Mugam World Festival was held "Mughamology in Azerbaijan: realities and prospects " a scientific symposium on March 7 in Baku.

Foreign guests from France, Canada, Holland, Serbia, Hungary, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan take part in the symposium.

First of all, the participants of the event visited the Alley of Honor. They honored the memory of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, laid bouquets of flowers to his grave. Also, the memory of a prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

Then the guests got acquainted with the exhibition, which was organized in the framework of the symposium in the Central Scientific Library of ANAS.

Opening the event, president of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh spoke about the significance of the Mugham festival. The academician noted that this traditional event is one of the most significant events in the cultural life of our country. The head of ANAS reported that the Mugham played an exceptional role in preserving and developing the national and moral values of the peoples living in the area of the spread of the Islamic religion, historical and cultural ties between them. He noted that Mugham art, which has been passed down through generations from generation to generation, is still experiencing the highest stage of its development in Azerbaijan; the official documents in the field of culture and art signed at the state level contribute to the development of this industry. Academician Akif Alizadeh said that, the scientific symposium held within the framework of the festival is one of the significant events in the life of ANAS, and wished successes in the work of the symposium.

Then, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan Abulfaz Garayev spoke, who stressed that the festival is one of the important musical events that turned into a tradition. Noting that our people are Mugham with great respect and love, the minister spoke about the stages of the formation of Mugham art, as well as about the state care provided to the development of our national culture. He stressed that very interesting events will be organized in the coming week of Mugham.

In her speech at the symposium, the chairman of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan, correspondent member of ANAS Firangiz Alizade noted that being a valuable project aimed at the development of Azerbaijani folk music, the festival of Mugham is an indicator of great attention and care given to folk art. She spoke about projects in the field of Mugham art, which are being implemented in the country on the initiative of First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, and on activities aimed at preserving and promoting Mugham art.

Member of the Council of Musical Groups of Turkic Speaking States Guzel Saifullina, Associate Professor of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory Alexander Haruto, Director of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi ANAS, Academician Rafael Huseynov, Vice-Rector of the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after TK Zhurgenov Gulnar Begalinova, professor at the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan Ravshan Yunusov, professor at the Tehran University of Arts Mohammed Azadefar and others.

The symposium continues its work in the Central Scientific Library in the sections "National Interpretation of the Eastern Mugham System", "The Origins of Strong Psychological Influence of Mugham Performance and Music Therapy", "The Tradition of Mugham as a Point of Contact of a Multicultural World", "Mugham Creativity at the Crossroads science and art","Development of Mugham art - history and modernity".

It should be noted that, on March 9, an event will be held in the Ganja branch of ANAS within the framework of the symposium "Mugham Studies in Azerbaijan: Realities and Prospects". The symposium will finish its work on March 10.
