5th International Baku Theater Conference kicks off + Photo Nov 06, 2018 | 09:40 / Conferences, assemblies

The official opening ceremony of the 5th International Baku Theater Conference titled "Theatrical Philosophy of the 21st Century: the Concept of Existence", organized by the Ministry of Culture, Union of Theater Workers and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences has been held at the Azerbaijan State Musical Theater on 5 November.

At the foyer of the theater for participants of the conference, by the National Library were organased a photo exhibition and a book exhibition, reflecting previous international theater conferences.

Within the “Unlimited” program of the organization British Council Azerbaijan the opening ceremony started with a performance of people with disabilities.

Then, welcoming the guests, head of the Department for Humanitarian Policy Issues of Presidential Administration Farah Aliyeva read AR President Ilham Aliyev’s congratulatory message to the paticipants of the conferens.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the conference, Minister of Culture Abulfaz Garayev spoke about the importance of the conference held every two years in our country.

He noted that, the conference is held in accordance with the “State program of the Azerbaijani theater in 2009-2019” approved by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated May 18, 2009.

The conference is attended by 120 guests from 40 countries. Among the speakers are the leaders of reputable international organizations.

The forum was attended by Chairman of the Union of Theater Workers of Azerbaijan, People’s Artist Azar Pasha Nematov, President of the International Theater Institute Mahammad Alafkham, Artist for Peace of UNESCO Ali Mahdi, Chairman of the Commission for Communication and Public Relations of the International Union of Puppet Theaters (UNIMA) Katharina Klanchnik-Kokutar, Rector of Russia Institute of Theatral Art Grigory Zaslavsky and President of the President of the International Association of Children's and Youth Theaters (ASSITEJ) Yvette Hardy.

The conference continued in plenary sessions and will end on November 6th.
